Piers Morgan's rants about Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain become the most complained-about TV moment ever.

Piers Morgan's controversial criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on Good Morning Britain has become the most complained-about TV moment ever, according to TV regulator Ofcom.

In episodes broadcast on March 8 and March 9, Morgan launched a fierce attack on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying that he "didn't believe a word" of what Markle in particular had said.

The resulting furore led to Morgan quitting the breakfast show, yet viewers have continued to complain and the total now stands at 57,121, Ofcom said.

The figure is 12,600 more than complained about Celebrity Big Brother's infamous race row involving Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty in 2007.

Reacting to the news via Twitter, Morgan said: "Only 57,000? I've had more people than that come up & congratulate me in the street for what I said. The vast majority of Britons are right behind me."

Despite Morgan's departure from GMB, Ofcom is continuing to investigate his comments and is also following up on viewer complaints about the interview itself.
