Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has launched a fresh attack on Donald Trump in his latest column for the Daily Mail, accusing the President of "spewing... dangerous half-baked medical claptrap".
Speaking at a White House event yesterday, Trump revealed that for the past week and a half he has been taking hydroxychloroquine - a drug normally used to treat malaria - in an effort to protect him from catching coronavirus, despite there being no medical evidence that it can do so.
The 73-year-old previously sparked outrage for suggesting that coronavirus might be cured by injections of disinfectant, and Morgan thinks that Trump's latest advice will prove fatal for many Americans.
"President Trump just killed people," he wrote. "I don't know how many yet, or who they are, or when they will die, but the one absolute certainty from his public boast that he's taking hydroxychloroquine is it will cost lives.
"Some people will now take it who shouldn't. And some people won't be able to take it who should."
He added: "President Trump has once again decided he knows better than the science and medical experts.
"It's a disgraceful abuse of his power and position, and a woefully negligent act for any leader to take during the world's worst health crisis in 100 years."
The US has had more COVID-19 deaths than any other country in the world, with more than 92,000 people losing their lives to date.
