Almost 300 viewers complain to TV regulator Ofcom about Piers Morgan's interview with MP Andrew Bridgen on Good Morning Britain.

Almost 300 people have reportedly complained to TV regulator Ofcom about Piers Morgan's interview with Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen on Monday's edition of Good Morning Britain.

Morgan has been extremely critical of the government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic over the last few months, conducting numerous fiery interviews - leading to an apparent ban on ministers appearing on the show.

In lieu of speaking to a government representative, Morgan invited backbench MP Bridgen onto Monday's show and became engaged in a heated exchange in which the politician accused him of reeling off a "diatribe" against Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

According to The Sun, 281 viewers lodged their objections with Ofcom over the interview, which was described by many on Twitter as a 'savaging'.

Last month more than 4,000 people complained to Ofcom over Morgan's combative interviews with health secretary Matt Hancock and care minister Helen Whately but the regulator cleared him of wrongdoing.
