Jamelia is to reprise her role of Sharon Bailey on the main cast of Hollyoaks.

Jamelia is to return to Hollyoaks as a member of the main cast later this month.

The singer made a cameo on the show 18 months ago as Sharon Bailey, the daughter of Pearl (Dawn Hope) and the mother of Zoe (Garcia Brown).

Sharon returns to the village to celebrate Mother's Day and reveals that she may stick around as she has a job interview for a paediatrician post at Dee Valley Hospital.

"I just can't tell you how happy I am to be back at Hollyoaks," Jamelia said. "We've been having the best time on set and I already have lovely friends here, some old, some new.

"Sharon's big arrival unsettles the family dynamic! It's complicated within the three generations of women but hopefully that is relatable.

"Sharon hasn't always prioritised her daughter and her mum is stuck in the middle. There's a lot for them to work through and I can't wait for viewers to see how that plays out on screen."

Sharon's return will air in E4's first-look episode on Monday, March 23.
