ITV has reportedly sounded out the owners of Gwrych Castle about the possibility of staging next year's edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! there in addition to this year's.
The 19th century castle on the North coast of Wales will play host to ITV's flagship autumn series after travel to the Australian jungle became impractical due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The broadcaster has paid significant money for the exclusive use of the venue and is also undertaking extensive building work to make it safe for filming, while a deal has been struck to stage the German version of the show - Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! - on the site in January.
According to The Sun, with coronavirus looking to be an ongoing concern for some time, ITV is already putting plans in place to potentially hold the 2021 edition of the show at Gwrych too, should it be necessary.
"As with this year, producers are looking at all possible eventualities," a source told the newspaper.
"There is a very real chance that the show will be in the UK again next year, so they are trying to get their ducks in a row and have a plan B like this time around.
"They have informally spoken to the owners of the castle and asked about its availability over the next two years - so into 2022.
"They are hopeful that the change of scenery will be a hit with viewers - and that could make it a shame to go rushing back to Australia unless it is absolutely necessary."
The new series begins on ITV next month.
