Chris Evans rules out Captain America return

Chris Evans rules out the prospect of reprising his role as Captain America in future Marvel movies.

Chris Evans has ruled out returning to his role as Captain America in the future, deeming it too "risky to revisit" the character after Avengers: Endgame.

The movie - a culmination of the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - saw Cap travel back in time to live out his days with Peggy Carter, effectively closing the book on Steve Rogers's story in the franchise.

The character was not killed off on-screen, however, meaning that he still could return in a future movie, but Evans was quick to dismiss that notion during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

"It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion," he said. "It was such a good experience and I think it's better left that way."

Evans's latest project is the Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob, in which he plays the patriarch of a family who are rocked by the allegation that their teenage son may be a murderer.
