Simu Liu has admitted that he has still not fully dealt with the fact that he is now playing a Marvel superhero.
The actor has entered the MCU as martial arts expert Shang-Chi and headlines his first movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which is out in cinemas now.
The 32-year-old infamously tweeted at Marvel in 2018 suggesting himself for the role and was surprised to see his wish come true just a couple of years later.
"I was very keenly aware that my face was not being represented," he told Empire.
"I'm still going through that process of coming to terms with the fact that I'm in this movie universe now. And I imagine it'll hit me again when I do, potentially, another one or... whatever comes next.
"It feels like in this moment, a very necessary step for us all, collectively, to take. And I feel great, but I'm only gonna be the first step in a long and meaningful movement."
The film has received generally favourable reviews from critics so far and holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
