Taron Egerton has poured cold water over ongoing speculation that he could take over from Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the near future.
Jackman holds a Guinness World Record for the "longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero", having played Wolverine for 17 years - most recently in 2017's Logan.
The X-Men characters will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the future and the part of Wolverine will most likely be recast with a younger actor taking over.
Fans have speculated online for some time that Rocketman star Egerton, 30, will land the part, with one mocked-up image of him as Wolverine recently going viral online.
"That anyone thinks I would be good for the part is really flattering," he told GQ Hype.
"I love Marvel, but it's just fan stuff. There is no grounding for those rumours."
Egerton is currently working on the much-anticipated sequel to Sing as well as Tetris, a film charting the development of the popular game in the 1980s.
