Les Dennis gives Gino D'Acampo Family Fortunes blessing

Former Family Fortunes host Les Dennis praises Gino D'Acampo's work presenting the new version for ITV.

Former Family Fortunes host Les Dennis has praised Gino D'Acampo for doing a "terrific" job on the revived version.

The classic gameshow was brought back by ITV earlier this year with the eccentric Italian filling the role memorably performed by Les, 67, in the 1980s and '90s.

"He does a really, really good job," Les told Thursday's Loose Women.

"People say to me, 'Why don't you go back?' But that will be like Adam West being Batman again. He does it in his own Gino way and it's terrific."

Reminiscing about his 15 years hosting the show, he added: "It was a great show when I did it. I think it's a great format.

"You do genuinely want to know the top answers. And the comedy comes out of the silly answers people give..."

Les will next be seen in a guest role on a festive episode of Birds of a Feather, airing Christmas Eve at 9.15pm on ITV.
