Jordan North is reportedly in the frame to take over from Roman Kemp as host of Capital FM's breakfast show following his departure from BBC Radio 1.
Earlier on Friday it was announced that North is leaving as co-host of Radio 1's Drivetime show this month and will be replaced by former Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing.
According to The Sun, North took the decision to quit after the position at Capital became available, even though Kemp's departure has yet to be officially confirmed.
"Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman and he could not be more excited," a source told the newspaper.
"It is absolutely huge for him and although it's hard to leave the BBC he is excited to get started on Capital.
"Jordan's decision has been a hard pill to swallow for the BBC but there was nothing they could do to change his mind."
Rumours about Kemp's departure from Capital Breakfast - after seven years as host and 10 years at the station - first emerged last autumn, with reports suggesting that he is keen to make a full transition to TV presenting work.
