Britney Spears will reportedly not be seeking to end her 13-year conservatorship at a much-anticipated hearing next month.
The 39-year-old has been subject to the conservatorship, which has effectively handed her financial affairs and most of the decisions about her life to her father Jamie Spears, since she suffered a high-profile breakdown in 2008.
In recent years fans have coalesced around the 'Free Britney' movement, which claims that Britney is being trapped unnecessarily in the conservatorship and is being exploited by her father and money-hungry lawyers.
Britney herself has offered little comment on the allegations in the past but is expected to speak publicly about the conservatorship for the first time at a hearing in LA next month.
According to TMZ, contrary to popular belief Britney is not looking to end the conservatorship but instead wants her father removed from the arrangement.
A source told the website: "She has 99% of the freedom she'd have if she weren't in a conservatorship, and the only thing she's prevented from doing are crazy things, like buying 3 cars at a time [something she tried to do back in the day]."
The insider added that Britney has not been talking to her father for some time and will ask the judge in her case to dismiss him as co-conservator of her estate.
The hearing is scheduled for June 23. body check tags ::
