Eamonn Holmes provides an update after taking himself to hospital on Thursday night with excruciating pain.

Eamonn Holmes has updated his followers on his condition after visiting hospital in excruciating pain on Thursday night.

The 61-year-old This Morning host took himself to A&E for what he described as "pain like I've never experienced in my life".

In a series of Twitter updates on Saturday, Holmes revealed that the cause of his pain has still not been identified and he is unlikely to find out for several days yet due to the Easter holidays.

"My pain hasn't gone away but understandably and unluckily for me the professionals who analyse and diagnose are on an Easter break," he wrote. "So to everyone, Twitter community, Family and friends who are asking 'What's Wrong?' unfortunately I won't know until middle of next week.

"Honestly folks, talking to you guys helps me forget the pain for 20 minutes.I hope u r talking to each other as well. I've felt for all of you suffering from Chronic pain & learned a lot .This is not about whose pain is the worst. This is about finding out how big the problem is."

He added: "Another thing which is a bit Taboo in mainstream Media is Prayer . It goes by many more acceptable names these days like Mindfulness or Meditation .. but if u do it , however u do it & whoever u do it to .. May it help you."

Holmes has insisted that he will be back at work hosting This Morning with wife Ruth Langsford on Monday despite his ongoing health woes.
