Piers Morgan's eldest son Spencer Morgan has hit out at abuse directed at his father following his departure from Good Morning Britain.
Piers, 55, stepped down from the breakfast show on Tuesday after more than 41,000 viewers complained about his fierce reaction to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The presenter's decision to quit the show after over five years reportedly came after ITV asked him to make an on-air apology for his criticism of the Royal couple and he refused, instead handing in his resignation.
After Piers received much criticism online, Spencer, 27, wrote on Twitter: "What you all actually mean is #bekind to people you like isn't it. Fake ass dreamers. I see you.
"Just a reminder that abusing one person in supposed defence of another person's mental health is about as absurd as it gets."
He later added: "This desperation to paint people as racist who clearly aren't makes a mockery of the issue. These people thrive off racial division. They are a cancer on society."
Piers made his own comment on Twitter on Tuesday evening, saying that he was thinking of his late manager John Ferriter, who would have "told me to do exactly the same thing". body check tags ::
