Anton Du Beke open to joining Strictly judging panel

Anton Du Beke reveals that he would be up for joining the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel now that he has been eliminated from the competition.

Anton Du Beke has admitted that he would be up for joining the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel as a replacement for Bruno Tonioli.

The panel is down to just three - Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse - while Tonioli is in the US filming Dancing With The Stars, although he may be able to return for the final few episodes of the series.

Du Beke and celebrity partner Jacqui Smith became the first couple to be voted off last weekend and following their elimination there have been calls from some fans for the dancer to join the panel.

"I do seem to have a bit of time on my hands," Du Beke said on Steph's Packed Lunch. "I'm not sure mid-series is the time to do it, but why not?"

He added: "I'd be kind but firm - a bit like my doctor."

Strictly continues on Saturday with Movie Week.
