Rio Ferdinand set for Strictly Come Dancing?

Gabby Logan reveals that she has been attempting to convince Rio Ferdinand to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing.

Sports presenter Gabby Logan has revealed that she has been attempting to convince Rio Ferdinand to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

Logan appeared on the celebrity ballroom contest's fifth series in 2007, lasting four weeks, and enjoyed the experience so much that she has tried to recruit her BBC colleague.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand, 42, is said to have attended ballet lessons as a child and Logan thinks that he would be an "incredible" addition to this year's lineup.

"I was trying to persuade Rio Ferdinand. You need to get your producers onto him. I almost had him," she told Strictly host Tess Daly on her podcast show.

"He said, 'Did you really enjoy it?' I said, 'How often do they ask you?' He said, 'Every year'. He'd be incredible, and he's a dancer!

"He would have a natural grace. He'd make it look good. That's a great starting point. Welcome Rio, 2021."

The new series is expected to begin on BBC One in September.
