Strictly stars to undergo daily coronavirus tests?

Strictly Come Dancing producers are planning to test the cast and crew for coronavirus on a daily basis, according to a report.

Strictly Come Dancing producers are reportedly planning to test the cast and crew for coronavirus on a daily basis to prevent an outbreak from wiping out the show.

The series is due to return to BBC One in late October, with the disease already having forced the show's run to be delayed and shortened by four weeks this year.

Earlier this week a crew member tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in several others being sent home, and according to The Sun, the incident has prompted producers to ramp up testing.

"Nothing is being left to chance after this positive test," a source told the newspaper. "A lot of money has been spent on ensuring everyone on the show has access to testing.

"If required, those taking part could even undergo daily checks to make sure they remain virus-free.

"The key thing for producers is knowing that if a case emerges that they can react to it to make sure it doesn't become a massive crisis.

"The nightmare scenario is a case going undetected and spreading through the entire show. That's why more testing will be carried out."

Strictly are thought to have several celebrities signed up as reserves in case one or more of the contestants are forced to withdraw through coronavirus.
