The Goldbergs star Jeff Garlin reveals that he suffers from bipolar disorder.

Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Goldbergs star Jeff Garlin has revealed that he suffers from bipolar disorder.

The 60-year-old comedian shared the news on social media on the day of the premiere of the new season of The Goldbergs, which begins with his character having died off-screen.

Garlin abruptly exited the comedy, in which he played the show's patriarch, last December following allegations about on-set conduct levelled at him by a crew member.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Bipolar is a motherfucker. Sometimes it's just too much to deal with. I'm doing the best I can. This the first time that I've opened up about this. #bipolar"

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition which can cause severe mood swings, from extreme highs to extreme lows, and is thought to affect up to 3 in every 100 people.
