Katy Perry has revealed that the upcoming season of American Idol will be her last.
The 39-year-old joined the judging panel of the long-running music competition in 2018, when it was revived by ABC, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
The trio have remained permanent judges ever since, but Perry has now told Jimmy Kimmel that she will leave after her seventh season in order to return full time to the music industry.
"I think this will be my last show, my last season for Idol," she told the talk show host on Monday.
"I love Idol so much, it's connected me with the heart of America. But I feel like I need to go out to feel that pulse of my own beat."
Idol's 22nd season premieres this Sunday on ABC in the US, while Perry plans to perform at Brazil's Rock in Rio festival this June.
