Netflix is reportedly in talks with Richard Gadd about signing the Baby Reindeer creator to a deal to make new shows for the platform.

The black comedy-drama stars Gadd as himself in an allegedly autobiographical tale about his life as an aspiring stand-up comedian - and details how an obsessive woman began to get involved in every aspect of his life.

The seven-part miniseries debuted on Netflix in April and quickly became one of the streamer's most-watched - and most talked-about - shows ever, with Gadd's story creating headlines around the world.

Subsequently a woman called Fiona Harvey identified herself as the 'stalker' from the series but vehemently denied Gadd's characterisation and is now suing Netflix for $170 million (£134 million) in damages.

Despite the lawsuit, The Sun says that Netflix is still keen to work with Gadd and are finalising an agreement for him to make a new show in a deal that could be worth almost £1 million.

"This is not a done deal, with both the streamer and Richard negotiating the details of a contract which would see him start work on a new show as soon as possible," a source told the newspaper.

"The fact that it could end up being worth seven figures reflects just how much Netflix want to keep him 'in house' following the incredible response to Baby Reindeer.

"They are hoping they can come to an agreement that will see Richard produce a string of shows for them, which could prove just as successful and thought-provoking."
