Sky announces details of a new eight-part crime thriller, A Town Called Malice, to air in 2022.

Sky has commissioned a new eight-part crime thriller set in the 1980s called A Town Called Malice.

The show follows criminal family the Lords, who have relocated from South London to the Costa del Sol in a bid to recapture their former glory.

"If Dallas and Pulp Fiction created a love child to the strains of Duran Duran, it would be A Town Called Malice," said Gabriel Silver, Sky's director of drama commissioning.

"[It's] an intoxicating cocktail of '80s romance, avarice and violence, served up with pineapple chunks and an umbrella...

"Brought to life so brilliantly by Nick Love's scripts, audiences will be taken back to the vivid world of the Costa Del Sol in its pomp, with a glorious take on the soundtrack of the era.

"The series is a fantastic addition to our growing lineup of home-grown, British drama on Sky in 2022."

Filming is due to begin in the UK and Spain later this year and the show will premiere on Sky Max at some point in 2022.
