Filming on the sixth and final season of The Crown will begin in August, it has been revealed.

The epic Netflix drama has told the story of The Queen's life and reign - and the final two seasons will cover the tumultuous period of the 1990s heading into the early 21st century.

Season five has already been shot and will be released this November, while pre-production is now underway on the concluding chapter.

A casting notice has gone out to find two actors to play Prince William and Prince Harry in their late teenage years for season six, suggesting that season five could end with the death of their mother Princess Diana in 1997.

The notice says: "These are significant roles in this award-winning drama and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance... No previous professional acting experience required."

Imelda Staunton will play the monarch for the final two seasons, with Dominic West playing Prince Charles and Jonny Lee Miller taking on the role of John Major. body check tags ::
