Aberdeen have launched a bid to try to sign Hull City winger Shaun Maloney, according to reports.
The 34-year-old, who has made 19 league appearances for the Tigers over the last two seasons, is thought to be on the verge of signing a one-year contract extension at the KCOM Stadium.
However, the Hull Daily Mail claims that Maloney has been offered a two-year deal by the Dons, who are reeling from Jonny Hayes's move to Celtic and Niall McGinn's decision to not sign a new contract.
The report goes on to say that the Scotland international is likely to stay put as he prefers the opportunity of playing a bigger role in the Championship for Hull this coming season under new manager Leonid Slutsky than a return to the Scottish Premiership.
Maloney enjoyed two fruitful spells at Celtic and has also turned out for Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic and MLS side Chicago Fire.
