Ajaccio have eased past Rennes with a 3-1 home victory in Ligue 1 this evening.
Rennes were the first to threaten as Paul-Georges Ntep hit a right-footed shot from the left side of the box after being played in by Ola Toivonen.
However, Ajaccio took the lead after 18 minutes when Johan Cavalli sent in a corner, allowing Ricardo Faty to rise highest and head home into the bottom corner.
The visitors pulled level in the 33rd minute when Abdoulaye Doucoure turned the ball home from close range with his right foot.
Parity wasn't to last too long, though, as the hosts hit back through Benjamin Andre, who crashed home from a narrow angle to leave Ajaccio 2-1 up at half time.
Junior Tallo almost increased the hosts' lead after the break, but he thrashed his shot straight at the keeper.
Tiemoue Bakayoko nearly equalised for Rennes with a header that flew wide of goal.
Ajaccio sealed the victory by adding their third of the night through Cavalli, who converted with his left foot in the 77th minute.
