Willem II held Ajax to a 1-1 draw in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the Koning Willem II Stadion.
The first chance of the game fell to the hosts on five minutes as Ben Sahar bore down on goal and let rip with a powerful shot that was caught by Jasper Cillessen.
Moments later, Ajax countered through Anwar El Ghazi, whose effort hit the post before Lasse Schone bundled the rebound wide of the target.
In the 37th minute, the visitors opened the scoring when Schone threaded a pass through to Arkadiusz Milik, who glided towards goal and poked home.
However, Willem equalised not long after the restart, with a Nick Viergever mistake allowing Ali Messaoud to collect the ball and slot into the net.
Ajax set about trying to edge themselves back in front but had to settle for a share of the spoils, leaving them 14 points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie table.
