Ajax's director of football Marc Overmars has claimed that Queens Park Rangers are "pretty close" to matching the Dutch club's valuation of Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.
The R's have been strongly linked with the Icelandic international for most of the summer, with numerous discussions said to have taken place regarding his availability.
Those talks have been positive, according to Overmars, who has described a switch to Loftus Road as "a good opportunity" for the 24-year-old.
"I have had some good talks with QPR over Kolbeinn. We are pretty close to each other regarding the transfer fee, but the player's demands are obviously important as well," the former Arsenal winger told Voetbal International.
"I think QPR is a good opportunity for Kolbeinn. Just look at how Wilfried Bony fares in the Premier League. He has already caught the attention of some major clubs after just one year in England."
Sigthorsson scored 10 goals in all competitions for Ajax last season.
