Cristiano Ronaldo 'open to Al-Nassr departure' but could key objective keep him in Saudi Pro League?

Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly open to the prospect of leaving the Saudi Arabian club when his contract expires in June.

Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly prepared to consider leaving Al-Nassr in 2025.

The Portugal international has racked up 74 goals in 83 appearances since he officially joined Al-Nassr in January 2023.

Ronaldo has registered 16 of those strikes during the current campaign, including 10 goals in 12 Saudi Pro League appearances.

While Ronaldo may be performing on the pitch, there is some uncertainty as to whether he will be with the Saudi Arabian club beyond the end of the season.

Ronaldo's current Al-Nassr contract expires in June 2025, meaning that he will be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs from the start of January.

Ronaldo open to Al-Nassr departure

According to Marca, Ronaldo is open to the possibility of leaving Al-Nassr rather than extending his stay with Stefano Pioli's side.

The report claims that the 39-year-old would be willing to consider 'attractive sporting projects' outside of Saudi Arabia.

However, there is one key reason that could persuade Ronaldo to sign a new contract with his current employers.

The ex-Manchester United star is still keen to win the league title with Al-Nassr - an objective that could convince him to stay in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo has previously won league titles with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, although he was unable to win the Primeira Liga in the early stages of his career with Sporting Lisbon.

Can Al-Nassr win the Saudi Pro League this season?

If Ronaldo is determined to win the Saudi Pro League title, he likely have to sign up for at least one more season with Al-Nassr.

That is because Al-Nassr are all but out of the current title race, having dropped points in six of their 13 league matches this season.

As a result, they will start the new year in fourth position, with 11 points separating them from league leaders Al-Ittihad.

While the league title may be out of reach, Ronaldo still has the opportunity to finish the 2024-25 campaign with a piece of silverware.

Al-Nassr are dreaming of winning the AFC Champions League Elite, having already secured their place in the knockout rounds. body check tags ::
