Argentina head coach Gerardo Martino has claimed that it would be unfair to expect Carlos Tevez to fill the void left by the injured Lionel Messi.
A knee injury prevented Messi from joining up with the squad in this international break, while Sergio Aguero picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 loss to Ecuador at the weekend.
Tevez will therefore take on more responsibility in attack against Paraguay in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier, but Martino insists that the Boca Juniors forward will not play the same role as Messi.
"Tevez cannot do Messi's role because Lionel plays like a number seven and I do not see Carlos playing there," he told reporters.
"For Carlos it does not suit him at all to go to the wings. He can play in the position that he did at Juventus or how he does now at Boca."
Tevez has not scored in any of his nine international games in 2015.
