Argentina beat Germany 4-2 in a re-run of the World Cup final in Berlin.

A flurry of second-half goals saw Argentina beat world champions Germany 4-2 in a re-run of the World Cup final in Berlin this evening to end the home side's 18-game unbeaten streak.

La Albiceleste had the lead when Angel di Maria's inviting pass found Sergio Aguero, who made no mistake as he converted from close range after beating the offside trap on 20 minutes.

Moments later the home side were nearly back in it but Julian Draxler couldn't convert after a mistake from Martin Demichelis in the Argentina defence.

Mario Gomez, who had been recalled to the squad following his omission from the World Cup, wasted a good chance to get his side back in it when he fired straight at Sergio Romero just before the half-hour mark.

Minutes later Di Maria, who enjoyed a fine game throughout, nearly doubled the lead when he cut inside and hit a shot that forced Manuel Neuer into an impressive stop.

Five minutes before the break, Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela made it 2-0 for the South Americans when he hammered in a volley from Di Maria's chipped pass.

Gomez wasted another chance at the death of the half as he miscued his effort with the goal at his mercy.

There were three goals inside the opening seven minutes of the second half and it was Federico Fernandez who got the ball rolling.

The Swansea City man headed home after he got on the end of Di Maria's delivery, and the new Manchester United star who finally had a goal of his own moments later.

The former Real Madrid star exchanged passes with Pablo Zabaleta before slotting the ball past substitute Roman Weidenfeller.

The world champions had one back on 52 minutes when Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle tapped home from close range after his first shot was blocked by Romero.

Fernandez then put through his own net to reduce the deficit late on, but the visitors recorded the win to give Gerardo Martino a fantastic start to life at the helm of his national side.
