Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Women's Super League clash between Arsenal Women and Leicester City Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Arsenal Women will warm up for the Women's Champions League semi-finals with a home game against Leicester City Women in Tuesday's Women's Super League clash.

The Gunners are sitting in second place in the WSL table, while the Foxes will head into the midweek fixture in 10th position.

Match preview

Arsenal carried significant momentum into the recent international break after winning three consecutive games without conceding.

The Gunners eased to a 4-0 league victory against Liverpool, before they clinched a commanding 3-0 win in the return fixture of their Women's Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg.

They went on to sweep past Crystal Palace via a 4-0 scoreline to ensure that they went into the international window in second position, leaving them seven points clear of fourth-placed Manchester City in the battle to secure European qualification.

Renee Slegers's side may be on course to seal a top-three finish, but a late dash to the WSL title seems to be highly improbable, with just four games left to overturn a six-point gap to leaders Chelsea.

As a result, Arsenal will view the Champions League as the best avenue to claiming silverware this season, but before they can focus on Saturday's semi-final first leg against Lyon, they will look to claim a seventh consecutive WSL victory in Tuesday's meeting with Leicester.

The Gunners boast a 100% record in WSL meetings with the Foxes, having won their previous seven encounters by a combined 24-2 scoreline.

Leicester are sitting in 10th place in the standings after winning four, drawing four and losing 10 of their 18 league matches this season.

Crucially, the Foxes boast a sizeable seven-point gap to basement side Crystal Palace, leaving them on the brink of extending their four-season stay in the top flight.

Amandine Miquel's side will enter Tuesday's contest with hopes of making it three games without defeat after taking four points from their last two matches before the international window.

They recorded a 3-2 home victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, before they played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium to extend their unbeaten home run to five league matches.

However, Leicester have been unable to produce that sort of form on their travels, with the Foxes sharing the WSL's worst away record with West Ham United after taking just two points from their nine road trips.

In fact, they have gone 14 consecutive away league games without a win since beating Everton 1-0 in January 2024.

Team News

Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar and forward Alessia Russo are major doubts after they picked up injuries while on international duty.

Chloe Kelly pulled out of the England squad with an injury issue, and the Man City loanee will now be assessed ahead of Tuesday's fixture.

Lotte Wubben-Moy, Laia Codina and Lina Hurtig are also injury concerns, but Katie McCabe will be available after she served a one-match ban before the international window.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon Ruby Mace, Jutta Rantala, Noemie Mouchon and Lena Petermann due to knee injuries.

Missy Goodwin will hope to return to the fold after missing Leicester's final two matches before the international break with illness.

Deanne Rose will continue to provide a useful option off the bench after returning from injury to make three consecutive substitute appearances before the international break.

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Fox, Williamson, Catley, McCabe; Pelova, Walti, Maanum; Mead, Foord, Blackstenius

Leicester City Women possible starting lineup:
Leitzig; Bott, Howard, Thibaud, Ale; Tierney, Cayman; Cain, Momiki, Chossenotte; O'Brien

We say: Arsenal Women 3-0 Leicester City Women

Arsenal have scored at least three goals in each of their last six league matches, and we think that they will continue that trend by showcasing their array of attacking talent in Tuesday's fixture to maintain their 100% record in WSL matches against Leicester.
