Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Community Shield clash with Manchester City.

Arsenal will seek a slice of revenge over Manchester City when they meet Pep Guardiola's side in Sunday's Community Shield affair at Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners spent 248 days at the Premier League summit last season before ceding the title to the Citizens, whose FA Cup success handed second-placed Arsenal the consolation prize of a Community Shield ticket.

Mikel Arteta's men finalised their friendly preparations by defending the Emirates Cup title on Wednesday, beating Ligue 1 side Monaco on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's injury and suspension news ahead of the Community Shield clash with Man City, whose most recent pre-season affair ended in a 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gabriel Jesus was absent from Arsenal's Emirates Cup success over Monaco after undergoing surgery on a knee injury, and the ex-Man City attacker is now facing a few weeks on the sidelines.

Bukayo Saka

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: August 6 (vs. Man City)

Bukayo Saka was another attacker who did not see the pitch on Wednesday, and Arteta confirmed that the English attacker was rested due to sickness, but he should have a strong chance of returning on Sunday.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: August 6 (vs. Man City)

Oleksandr Zinchenko's latest calf issue also kept him out of the Gunners' Emirates Cup success, but Arteta believes that the left-back will return to team training "very soon", offering hope of a competitive comeback this weekend.

Mohamed Elneny

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Mohamed Elneny is in the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee injury, but the Egyptian has not played a single minute this summer and is unlikely to be considered for selection here.

Reiss Nelson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Toe
Possible return date: August 6 (vs. Man City)

During the middle of July, Reiss Nelson was ruled out for two weeks with a toe injury, and while the Englishman should therefore make his return imminently, it is unclear if he will play any part in the Community Shield.

Folarin Balogun

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: August 6 (vs. Man City)

Folarin Balogun sat out Arsenal's friendly clashes with Barcelona and Monaco due to a foot injury and is touch-and-go for Sunday's game, but the USA striker is still being heavily linked with an exit from North London.

Albert Sambi Lokonga

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Albert Sambi Lokonga failed to make Arsenal's USA tour squad due to a muscular injury of unspecified severity, although the Belgian is another player who is expected to bid farewell to the Gunners during the current window.
