Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Lucas Perez is facing "six to eight weeks" on the sidelines due to the ankle injury that he suffered against Reading in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The 28-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer transfer window, was forced off in the 72nd minute of the EFL Cup fixture after a challenge with Reading's Danzell Gravenberch.
Wenger has branded the tackle "stupid" and conceded that the Spaniard is facing up to two months on the sidelines after suffering ligament damage against the Championship outfit.
"He's absolutely gutted because it's an injury coming from nowhere and a stupid one. It was a kick, a deliberate kick," Wenger told reporters.
Perez, who will miss key fixtures against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, has scored twice in six appearances for Arsenal this season.
