Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu is in contention for Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford.

The former Bologna defender has been struggling to overcome a calf problem in recent weeks and has been absent for five games across all competitions for the Gunners.

Tomiyasu just missed out on a place in the squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Arteta expects the 23-year-old to return for the visit of the Bees.

"We are all good. The doubt was Tomi which is still not perfect. But he's trained the last few days so he's in contention and we can use him," Arteta told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

Bernd Leno is also fit and available following his recovery from coronavirus, but Gabriel Martinelli will miss out owing to the red card that he received in the 1-0 win at Wolves.
