Jack Wilshere has been dropped from Stuart Pearce's 35-man list for the Team GB Olympic squad, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger had vociferously stated his opposition to the 20-year-old being picked for the tournament after not featuring at all for Arsenal last season.
The Frenchman said that he wanted the young midfielder to rest ahead of the next Premier League campaign, having suffered a series of setbacks on the road to recovery.
His calls now seem to have been heard by Team GB boss Pearce, with The Mirror reporting that Wilshere has been cut from the list.
Pearce is set to name his 18-man squad on July 6.
