Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has revealed that his side are striving to repeat their performance from the 5-1 win over Arsenal earlier this season.

The Reds blew away the Gunners in the opening 20 minutes of their top-of-the-table clash at Anfield last month, storming into a 4-0 lead before seeing out the comfortable victory.

Brendan Rodgers's side have since moved up to second in the Premier League table, and Allen believes that the opening stages of the win over Arsenal should be the level of performance that they look to emulate in every match.

"I don't think I've seen a better performance in 20 minutes of football from the first whistle. Our target now is to make sure we do that in every game," Allen told the club's official website.

"Obviously it's difficult to play to that level all the time, but that's our dream and what we're aiming to do. How clinical we were with the ball and how many chances we created was one thing.

"But with Arsenal being such a great footballing team as well, the way we stopped them playing and won the ball back and pressed them hard was equally as pleasing."

Liverpool, who trail league leaders Chelsea by seven points having played a game less, will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
