Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly instructed his chief scout Gilles Grimandi to provide a report on Montpellier HSC striker Olivier Giroud.
The 25-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in European football, and he has raised his stock considerably with 22 goals from 33 appearances this season.
Montpellier owner Louis Nicollin recently admitted that he would not entertain bids of less than £50m, but according to the Daily Mail, Wenger is convinced he can secure the deal.
Bayern Munich and Newcastle United have also registered an interest in the French international.
