Under-fire Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he remains unaffected by discontent from the fanbase, insisting that it is par for the course in his job.

The Gunners slumped to their fourth defeat of the Premier League season on Saturday by losing 3-2 at Stoke City, with the Potters boasting a three-goal half-time lead.

The Frenchman came in for fierce criticism from a group of fans as he boarded a train back to London, with supporters shouting "get out of my club" and "fuck off" at him.

Speaking to Sky Sports News ahead of tomorrow's visit to Galatasaray in the Champions League, the 65-year-old said: "We have to cope with [criticism], we are professional footballers. I am a competitive person. What is important is the next game and responding in a strong way, to play to win the game.

"It is part of our job here, you cannot always look for excuses. We are down. Everyone feels it. When you have a disappointment you respond in a strong way, that is what competition is about.

"You cannot say there is a guarantee to anybody you will never lose a game. Many teams will lose at Stoke, you have to be realistic as well."

Wenger's side, who won the FA Cup last season, sit sixth in the Premier League table, 13 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
