Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes that his side have the capability to challenge for the Premier League title and win the cup competitions this season.
Following an opening-day loss at home to Aston Villa, the Gunners have won their next three Premier League games and currently sit second in the table.
Arteta's view is at odds with that of his manager Arsene Wenger, who said yesterday that his side must avoid injuries to compete this season.
The Spanish midfielder believes that the form of striker Olivier Giroud among others is a good marker of what Arsenal should be achieving.
"Giroud started very well in the forefront of the attack. He scores important goals," the 31-year-old told French radio station RMC. "This is great. He is very ambitious.
"We had a good start to the championship. It was very important. We started well this season compared to previously.
"We have the confidence; we have a great team and the opportunity to shine in all competitions."
Arteta has been sidelined for the start of the season with a thigh injury.
