Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has said that he was determined to make up for his missed penalty against Arsenal this afternoon.
The Bosnian won a ninth-minute penalty after being hauled down by Laurent Koscielny and stepped up to take it himself.
However, Dzeko saw the ball bounce off the post and into the arms of Wojciech Szczesny after the Pole had got his foot to his initial effort.
The 26-year-old was not be denied, and later tapped in from close range to put City 2-0 just before half time.
Dzeko said that he was unsure of Koscielny deserved to be sent off, but firmly believes that it was a penalty.
"I don't know it if was a red card, but the penalty was 100%", Dzeko told Sky Sports News.
"I told myself after missing the penalty I had to score. It's very important for my confidence."
The win sees Roberto Mancini's men trailing Manchester United by seven points.
