Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reportedly ordered his players to shed some body fat in order to enable them to cover more ground during matches.
Emery saw his new players in competitive action for the first time last weekend when Arsenal fell to a comfortable 2-0 defeat at home to Premier League champions Manchester City.
The Express reports that the Spaniard has identified a number of factors he wants to change in his squad, setting his players certain targets to meet.
One of those is for the team to lose on average 1.3kg - or just under three pounds - of fat and replace it with 1.23kg of muscle.
Emery is hopeful that the change will help to improve Arsenal's poor injury record and has set an aim to have above 90% player availability this season.
The Gunners are back in action on Saturday when they take on London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
