Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has backed Aaron Ramsey to continue his form in front of goal following his brace against Galatasaray.
The Welshman netted twice in Istanbul on Tuesday - including a strike from 30 yards - as the Gunners secured a second-place finish in Group D with a 4-1 triumph.
Despite doubts over whether Ramsey is capable of replicating the performances that he enjoyed last season, Merson believes that the 23-year-old can go on to have a big say for Arsene Wenger's side this term.
"He is the type of lad that can go and score six in six, without a doubt," he told Sky Sports News. "It's all about confidence and we've seen that he can do it – he's a really, really good player.
"If he had reached the heights of last season he'd be playing for Barcelona. That's how high and how good he was. I thought he was the best midfield player in the country last year – probably the best player in the country at one stage, with Luis Suarez, until he got injured."
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday when they entertain Newcastle United.
