Mikel Arteta: 'We won't get carried away with Chelsea win'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has urged Gunners fans not to get "carried away" with his side's 4-0 pre-season thumping of Chelsea in the Florida Cup.

The North London club made it five wins from five in their summer friendlies with a free-flowing and dominant performance against a lacklustre Blues side at the Camping World Stadium.

Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga were all on target for Arsenal, who have also beaten Nuremberg, Everton, Orlando City and Ipswich Town this summer.

Arsenal boss Arteta insisted that there were "a lot of positives" to take from the four-goal win over their London rivals, but the Spaniard still believes that there is plenty of room for improvement.

As you could see there are a lot of positives to take from the game. The way we played, the intensity we showed, the way we were trying to show who we are as a team. But at the same time, it's just a test match," Arteta said in his pre-game press conference.

"Don't get carried away. There are still a lot of things that we have to get better at, and do better. But I think it's good to get some momentum, finish the tour in the right way, give some enjoyment to our fans and everybody that's been contributing to make this tour happen.

"There were a lot of positives, there are a lot of things we can do much, much better than we have done today as well and we have to continue to improve as a team."

The Gunners' starting lineup saw William Saliba partner Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of defence, with Ben White and new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko occupying the wide areas.

Saliba put in another strong pre-season showing as he seeks to finally make his competitive debut for the club, and Arteta only had positive words for the 21-year-old.

"I am really pleased to see the way he is playing, the way he has adapted to the team, the maturity that he's shown at 21-years-old, carry on doing it," Arteta added.

"We will keep developing him, he has a huge potential, he is already a top player and we have to make him even better. He looked ready to me today."

Jesus's strike in Orlando made it four goals in four pre-season games for the Brazilian, but he was then forced off with a knock, while Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney and Fabio Vieira were not involved in any capacity.

However, Arteta is hopeful that the trio will all be fit for the start of the Premier League season, adding: "Yeah, Tomi us really close to start doing some training sessions. Hopefully next week and Fabio probably a little bit longer.

"I think he needs another week or so before he starts with the team but he's been working hard and he's been really unlucky to start his Arsenal career in this way but again he's fitting in well.

Elaborating on Jesus's withdrawal, Arteta added: "He got a knock in the first half in his quad I think it was and it wasn't very comfortable to continue and obviously we didn't take any risks today."

Arsenal will now aim to make it six wins from six in pre-season when they meet Sevilla in the Emirates Cup next Saturday. body check tags ::
