The 19-year-old, who made his City debut against Real Madrid on Tuesday, has reportedly impressed Roberto Mancini with his performances in training thus far.
According to Goal.com, the emergence of the youngster has threatened the role of England defender Joleon Lescott.
City currently sit seventh in the Premier League table.
