Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain thanks Arsene Wenger and Arsenal supporters after completing his £35m switch to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has confessed that he found it "tough" making the decision to quit Arsenal for Liverpool after six years in North London.

The Reds beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signing of the England international, handing over a sum reportedly in excess of £35m.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has now opened up on his choice to swap teams in an Instagram post, while also thanking ex-boss Arsene Wenger and the Gunners fans for their support during his time at the club.

"After six years, three FA Cup wins and countless incredible memories, the time has come for me to move on from Arsenal," he said. "I want to publicly thank Arsene, the coaching and club staff and my amazing team mates for all of the incredible opportunities I have been given.

"Thank you so much to you, the fans, who have always had my back - I honestly couldn't be more grateful. The club, and my time here, will always mean a massive amount to me. I know my choice might come as a surprise to many, and the decision to leave was tough after being a part of the club for so many years, but I feel that this move is right for the next stage in my ongoing development."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to have offered Oxlade-Chamberlain assurances that he will be used in his favoured central-midfield position, where he hopes to emulate hero Steven Gerrard.
