Aaron Ramsey believes that Arsenal deserved to win the FA Cup last season for all the "hard work" put in, and is now hopeful of winning more silverware in 2017-18.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has admitted that he was delighted to end 2016-17 on a high and is now hopeful of pushing on next season.

The Gunners endured a difficult campaign on the whole last time out, finishing outside the top four for the first time in two decades and also dropping out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage.

Supporters were given something to smile about thanks to the FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium last month, however, with Ramsey netting what proved to be the winning goal.

Ramsey is now looking to make the 2017-18 campaign his best yet by firing Arsenal to more silverware and potentially helping Wales to the World Cup finals in Russia.

"It means a lot for us to win silverware and having something to show for your hard work. Hopefully there will be some more next season," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "I love the competition and to score another FA cup winner was a great feeling – it's living out your childhood dreams.

"It was a great feeling to win the FA Cup again. We really wanted to finish the season on a high. We gave everything on the day to make sure we left that pitch with the trophy. I'm always trying to improve as a player and will continue to try to do that."

Ramsey scored in Wales's recent 1-1 draw away to Serbia in World Cup qualifying, leaving his side four points off top spot in Group D.

"We know what we need to do to achieve our dream of playing in the World Cup," he added. "The Euros did inspire us and of course we still believe. There are still a lot of points up for grabs and we are going to give everything to get them.

"It would mean so much for us to qualify for the World Cup. We would love to experience that. I love playing for my country and the responsibilities that come with that. We have a great team, who all get along brilliantly.

"The Euros showed with hard work and quality you can achieve great things. We always knew what we were capable of. Then to go out there and show that throughout the Euros just gave us the belief and confidence that we can compete with the best going forward."

Ramsey played 41 times for club and country in all last season, scoring six times and setting up nine more from midfield.
