Steve Round has left his position as Arsenal assistant manager by mutual consent.

The 52-year-old arrived in North London alongside Mikel Arteta in December 2019 and has helped the Spaniard mastermind a significant upturn in fortunes over the past three years.

Round was part of the Arsenal coaching staff during their run to the FA Cup and Community Shield titles in 2020, while the Gunners sealed a return to the Champions League with a second-placed Premier League finish last term.

"As preparations for the new men's season get underway we can confirm Steve Round has left the club by mutual agreement," sporting director Edu said in a statement to staff.

"During his time with us, Steve played an integral role working with our men's first team players and helping the significant progress which we have made in recent seasons.

"We thank Steve for his contribution to Arsenal Football Club and wish him and his family all the best of health and happiness."

Round served as Aston Villa technical director before joining Arsenal, and the former centre-back has also coached at Manchester United, Derby County, Everton, Newcastle United, England and Middlesbrough. body check tags ::
