Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he plans to contact Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy.
Arsenal confirmed earlier this week that Aubameyang would no longer wear the armband after his "latest disciplinary breach", which has also seen him miss the last two games against Southampton and West Ham United respectively.
The 32-year-old is understood to have arrived back late from a trip abroad, incurring the wrath of manager Mikel Arteta as a result.
Aubameyang's omissions from the last two squads have stoked speculation surrounding his future, with Barcelona thought to be considering a move for the Gabon international.
While there is no suggestion that Chelsea are interested in poaching him from their London rivals, Tuchel does plan to speak to the player, with whom he worked at Borussia Dortmund.
"I will [contact Aubameyang] at some point. I feel sorry that he is in trouble," Tuchel told reporters.
"I believe in his positive character but I am not involved in this situation or his club. It is just about my picture & relationship."
Tuchel and Aubameyang spent two years together at Dortmund, during which time they won the DFB-Pokal. body check tags ::
