Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has expressed his pride after his side secured Champions League football on the final day of the season.
The Gunners guaranteed themselves fourth spot in the Premier League after Laurent Koscielny earned them a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Arsene Wenger's side have taken 26 points from a possible 30 in their last 10 games, and the England international has paid tribute to his team's defensive qualities.
"It was so tense," said Walcott. "Our fans were absolutely fantastic. The pitch wasn't great at times but Newcastle showed that they shouldn't be where they are in the league.
"We had to dig deep. Our defence has been absolutely solid, we've been keeping clean sheets for fun and that's what wins you games. Everyone's very proud of each other."
Arsenal will have to get through the qualifying rounds to play in next season's Champions League group stage.
