Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has claimed that his hat-trick in Saturday's 7-3 win over Newcastle United should be enough to prove to manager Arsene Wenger that he can play as a striker.
Walcott capped an impressive display with three goals at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners ran riot against the Magpies.
"I've been saying for the past few weeks that I want to play up front and I am showing the manager what I can do," the 23-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"I believe I will be a striker and it is about taking the opportunity when I get it."
The England international also revealed that his contract situation at the club will be "sorted soon".
Walcott has yet to sign a new deal with Arsenal and he will be a free agent at the end of the season.
"I will continue to play my football," he added. "Talks are ongoing and I'm sure something will be sorted soon."
The 7-3 triumph has seen Arsenal stay in fifth place in the Premier League table.
