Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is "confident" of signing Aaron Ramsey to a new contract.
The Wales international will see his current deal with the Gunners expire at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Arsenal are yet to tie Jack Wilshere to a new contract as the England international nears the end of his deal, and Ramsey's situation at the Emirates Stadium has led to unease among the club's supporters.
Wenger, however, believes that the 27-year-old will pen fresh terms.
"We are communicating. Yes, I'm confident, he's not at the end of his contract, he has one-and-a-half years to go. From my side it is clear, but you always have to find an agreement," Wenger told reporters.
"We want him to stay. He's one of these guys who has been here for a long time. He will be an important player in the future of this club."
Ramsey has scored nine times and registered 10 assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
