Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed striker Olivier Giroud to prove himself in the Premier League.
Giroud missed a good chance during his side's 2-0 win over Liverpool yesterday, prolonging his search for his opening goal for the club.
With Arsenal's two other summer signings - Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski - opening their accounts in that match, questions were raised over Giroud's performances so far. However, Wenger believes that it is just a matter of time before the 25-year-old adapts to the physical style of English football.
"I am confident about him," said Wenger.
"Giroud is in an adaptation period. He has shown he is ready for a fight and I am sure he will adapt to the intensity of an English striker.
"Against Skrtel he discovered what the Premier League is all about."
Giroud will now return to international duty after being named in the France squad to face Finland and Belarus.
